La Fillaboa 1898 fills us with pride and sends shivers down our spine by simply remembering the last sip we took of this wine. This is no wonder seeing as this wine is made exclusively with the best wines from the eight plots on the Fillaboa estate, a terroir with a sandy and rocky texture, due to its proximity to the Mi\u00f1o River, awarding it good drainage, perfect for keeping our vines in optimum condition 365 days a year.<\/p>\n
One day we awoke with the idea to see how our albari\u00f1o wine would behave over time. And so, we made the decision with the 2010 vintage, one of the most balanced and best vintages in the history of Fillaboa, to leave this albari\u00f1o wine on fine lees for a minimum of 6 years aging. The result was amazing, leaving us in awe.<\/p>\n
This white wine stuns at first sight: it is a clean and bright straw-yellow colour with golden glints and a unique and delicate tone. When we stop to contemplate its aromas, we discover a toasty aroma with a candied fruity background, reminiscent of baked apples and bakery products. La Fillaboa 1898 is a smooth wine, with very well integrated acidity, volume and long persistence. It is ideal to pair with fish dishes, poultry, Japanese and Oriental food.<\/p>\n
This DO R\u00edas Baixas wine has won several prizes, to mention a few; Best White Wine in Spain 2020 from the Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers (AEPEV). La Fillaboa 1898 has also achieved high points in competitions such as Decanter 2019, Best in Show with 97 points, also 97 points in Gu\u00eda Pe\u00f1\u00edn 2020, 96 points in the Gu\u00eda Gourmets 2021 and 95 points in the Special Report on R\u00edas Baixas 2022 by Tim Atkin.
